On Saturday Macclesfield Ladies 1s Hockey played host to travelling Chester 2s team. Tempo was high from both teams unfortunately it was
Macclesfield who conceded a penalty corner early in the game which Chester converted with a straight strike. A few minutes later, after consistent pressure Macclesfield drew level. Emma Houghton made the pass that was swept in by Sarah Duffy from the top of the D. Unfortunately, against the run of play, Chester were able to score another goal shortly before half time. In the 2nd half, Macclesfield applied consistent pressure but were frustrated by strong defensive play from Chester’s back two, and by some sterling work from their GK. Despite throwing most of the team forwards towards the end, and experiencing little pressure on their defence, it was not to be Macclesfield’s day. The game frustratingly ended 2-1 to Chester.
Man of the match awarded by Chester was Sarah Duffy and Players’ player voted by the home team also went to Sarah Duffy.
