Macclesfield HC is one of the oldest clubs in the region – having been founded in 1888 as a men’s club. It has existed in its present mixed state since the 1990s when Macclesfield Ladies Club merged with it.
Macclesfield HC now boasts over 200 members, ranging from 5 to 70 plus! It really is a sport to be enjoyed for life by both men and women. Over fifteen U18 players have represented the club and county this year, and two ladies play for North of England O50s.
We are proud to run 4 men’s teams, 5 ladies teams, a mixed team and a ladies veterans’ team. We also have a host of junior teams playing in local competitions. The club has recently formed the “Macclesfield Wanderers” to support hockey players who are unable to play for their club due to the COVID-19 alert level restrictions.
Senior matches are played mainly on Saturday with an occasional Sunday fixture. Beavers (U13s) and Badgers (U15s Boys) matches are also played on Saturdays whilst U13s fixtures are largely on Sundays.
When the season ends – we continue to play summer hockey, mixed and ladies leagues as well as offering a ‘Back to Hockey‘ experience for ladies who have never played before or are returning to play after a long break.
In addition to playing hockey, Macclesfield have a reputation for being a friendly club with the opportunity to join many social events and the annual Blackpool Hockey Easter Festival mixed tour.
Kings School and Tytherington School pitches are both used for training and matches. For post match refreshments, we meet at Macclesfield Cricket Club.
